Funding & Scholarships

We do not offer grants or scholarship however many of our university partners subsidize some portion of the program fee, or other program costs (i.e. travel)
Travel

Based on our locations on offer most student will have to fly in order to reach their desired destination. Cork, Ireland would be the only realistic destination with no flight. Cost of flights can vary dramatically based on departure and arrival points, time of year, airline, and other factors. It is recommended students do a quick online search to gauge flight costs prior to confirming any program. Program fee’s do not cover cost of flights or local travel.
Visas

Generally speaking, a student will enter a country to complete their internship either on a visitor visa or a “work / training” visa specific to the country. Visa range from $0 USD up to $1500 USD depending on location and duration of internship.
All GCC locations area staffed with an onsite Director. Depending on the location there may be an Assistant Director and we may hire part time staff for programming support (i.e. social and cultural events). It is our expectation that students will arrive at their housing on the predetermined date. GCC provides clear guides on transportation from the airport to housing. Once students have arrived at housing the Director will conduct onsite orientation. Most orientations are 1-2 days. India and select other locations may incorporate a slightly longer orientation. Students have access via phone, text and email to the local GCC staff as well as access to staff at the central office in Boston, MA USA. During orientation students receive packets and instruction on what to do incase of an emergency. This includes local contacts like police and health emergency, housing contacts, and GCC contacts.
All students have access to onsite and online professional development opportunities. Each city we operate in has similar but not exact professional development events while online opportunities are open to all. GCC will introduce students to the GCC Competency Model which specifically identifies 5 areas of intercultural learning. Students can self-reflect on their competence development or GCC can mentor students through a complete workshop.
GCC works with local housing providers and offers shared housing similar to dormitory style rooms or shared college style apartments or flats. Rooms are either shared between 2 people with separate bedrooms and shared common areas or shared between 4-6 people with private bedrooms and shared common areas. Mumbai India is the only location where breakfast and dinner are included with the accommodation. In most cases, housing is within a normal commute to the job site using public transportation.
GCC and the University partner will collaborate to complete an HSS template. Link to an example of Health and Safety for Boston. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C6GT6u3kM7zuEpD2BKnwhRN9QKw2sEsT/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107499254932957288518&rtpof=true&sd=true

Why we like Global Career Center

I've worked with Chris from Global Career Center for 10+ years. Chris and Kate are experts in experience-based learning and global internships. Because they work predominantly with North American universities, they are a hidden gem for UK students and universities. Their industry connections in several countries mean that they can offer high quality internship experiences alongside expert guidance on all the practicalities. We are particularly excited for them to open up industry-specific internships in the US and Canada for UK students.
