Gotoco was created from the idea of wanting to provide Global Opportunies to as many people as possible. Dreamed of after a single year abroad and growing to over 5,000 placements across more than a dozen countries, our programmes are built by people and for people who want to make the most of their opportunties all over the world. We help people explore and experience different opportunities that aren’t offered to people everyday. Every member of our team has taken the leap themselves, so we know how transformative our programmes can be. That’s why we’ve designed a supported, affordable and meaningful way to live, work and travel abroad.

The Programme

This programme combines international teaching placements, an Ofqual certified teaching qualification, and deep cultural immersion to help you build skills, confidence and connections that last far beyond your time overseas. We get you:

  • TESOL certified through recognised qualifications, giving you practical teaching skills and a globally respected credential to support future opportunities.
  • Real-World Work Experience, taking part in hands-on placements in schools or summer camps, building your CV, gaining international work experience, and boosting your employability in a global job market.
  • Cultural Immersion, travel with purpose. Live and work alongside locals, experience everyday life in your host country, and gain a deeper understanding of different cultures.
  • Community & Adventure, go abroad with a group of like-minded peers. Share the journey, support one another, and build friendships while exploring new countries together.

All of this offered at a low price point, with dedicated support and funding options to make global experiences more accessible to everyone.

Your Journey

Pre-Departure: Before you go, you’ll begin your teacher training, an online course allowing you to complete in your own pace and own time. This is designed to help you feel confident and ready for your placement.

On Arrival: Once you arrive, you’ll join an in-country induction covering cultural orientation, teaching expectations, and practical guidance for living and working locally.

On Placement: During your placement, you will:

  • Teach English and lead activities in schools or summer camps
  • Be fully immersed in a local community or camp environment
  • Start your backpacking and travel adventure while learning what it’s really like to live and work abroad
  • Meet diverse, like-minded people and build meaningful global connections

Post-Placement: After your placement, you’ll:

  • Join a group meetup for reflection, celebration, and shared learning
  • Complete your TESOL certification

Ongoing Support

Throughout the entire programme, you’ll receive continuous support from Gotoco’s team and your local host, ensuring you’re never navigating the experience alone.
